Payroll Professional

Seeking a full service payroll professional for a unique opportunity with a long standing local leader; you’ll be responsible for the quality production of in-house payroll processes for differing entities and 400+ employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll using in-house payroll system for multiple entities with varying pay schedules consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Review of electronic time keeping system for accuracy and approval completion; resolve discrepancies
  • Collect, calculate and check accuracy of timecards for hourly office employees
  • Ensure payroll withholding and taxes are processed timely and accurately
  • Prepare and input payroll data including garnishments, insurance deductions, 401(k) deductions and voluntary deductions (fuel purchases, employee purchases, supplies, etc.)
  • Prepare and process paychecks, direct deposits and garnishments for payment
  • Maintain and update job codes, workers compensation codes and rate changes, and applicable tax tables
  • Prepare and process quarterly 941’s, applicable tax filings and payments
  • Prepare and process wage gross-ups as necessary
  • Prepare and process workers compensation assessment for payment
  • Prepare, review and distribute annual W-2’s
  • Ensure the processing of new hires and terminations are accurate and timely
  • Process wage rate changes as directed by management
  • Prepare manual checks as necessary
  • Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts to payroll records

Skills/Requirements Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience of full cycle payroll processing for facilities with an excess of 100 employees
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll, payroll related taxes and basic accounting principles
  • Knowledge of current federal and state wage and hour laws
  • Knowledge of quarterly reporting requirements
  • Strong data entry skills including 10-key
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with IBM/AS400 systems and NetShift is a plus
